Q: How good is the public Transport in Taipei?
A: Excellent. The Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) is modern, dependable, obsessively clean and air-conditioned. As there is an entrance right next to the hostel (Shandow Temple Station), it is also extremely convenient. Most of the buses are equally nice and many buses stop right in front of the hostel. Taxis are so plentiful that you never have to wait more than a minute to get one. MRT fares begin at 20NT, buses are 15NT and taxis begin at 70NT. The staff at the Taipei Hostel will help you get anywhere you want to go.
Q: How good is the public transport throughout Taiwan?
A: There are buses going everywhere in Taiwan, everyday. Taipei has its own local airport. Renting a car is possible but expensive and impractical. The Taipei Main Train Station is one block away. The Taipei Hostel is a great starting point for any journey in Taiwan.
Q: Are there organized tours that can be joined?
A: There are plenty of tour buses going anywhere you want to go. Tours are affordable and most bus are double deckers with all the amenities. There are Tourism officials at the CKS airport who can certainly answer all your questions and there are travel agents everywhere who can arrange your schedule and take care of all your accomodations.
Q: Is the Hostel clean?
A: Very clean. The Taipei Hostel is one of the few hostels in Taiwan to have live-in cleaning staff. Every morning the dorms, bathrooms, commom area, kitchen, hallways are swept, mopped and scrubbed. Trash is removed, the roof-top garden is cleaned, the linens are washed and put away carefully. Other hostels are DIY.
